The Slow Season

What with the growing darkness and the cruddy weather, I haven’t had anything to photograph and very little motivation to even think about gardening.  Our recent wacky weather has woken me up a bit, thankfully.  While nothing new will be coming up in the garden for a month at least (unlike more southerly folks), it’s time to sit down with the seed catalogs and think about 2009.  The pond always needs a little attention: now that it thawed out a bit, I can start pulling out the larch needles and Japanese maple leaves that fell in right before the cold hit earlier this month. (The poor Bloodgood didn’t even have time to turn colors, with unseasonably warm weather in the fall quickly turning very cold.)
